Elizabeth and James

They conquered the world of tween television in the 90s and they are now conquering the fashion world in the 2000s (that doesn't sound as cool as the 90s!)? Anyway, they brought us the high-end, minimalist line, The Row. They also brought us Elizabeth and James, a line that I have been overlooking. But, pieces from this label have been creeping up over the past few weeks which prompted a closer look. The label has some really great pieces.

They started it back in 2007, named after their two their siblings (how presh!) Defintely worth a look!

Simeon Farrar

This guy is amazing! He just has a simple love for art and is bursting with creativity. He moved between mediums to find fashion as well as art. Yet, each garment he produces is like a mini-piece of art.

His claim to fame is cool graphic tees. His most famous one? The "Kate Mouse" T-shirt (featured in the airport chic post). I love this brand just because it is simple, cool, chic and stylish without trying too hard at all.

In his words, "My work is about the city but in my work the city is a metaphor for this reality."

Farrar with his recent line, donated 50% of his proceeds to Japan for disaster relief (awwe!) I just love it when designers do things like this! Fashion cares too!

Airport chic

As the world gets smaller we are traveling a hell-of-a-lot more than we used to. Now, there is no one answer to this question but what is your airport style? For me, i was told by my father at a young age to always look good while traveling. The reason being that he says you never know who are going to meet at an airport. Now, this is coming from a man who travels for meetings and frequently meets his clients and people in the same industry on his flights. This is a piece of advice I have taken wholeheartedly and use it frequently. (even though when its an early morning flight, its hard not to just jump into those sweats!)

Here are a few pieces that could make for airport chic attire:

So, taking the idea from some fashionable celebs.. The key? a stylish pair of jeans (that are preferably comfortable) and a loose fitting tank/t-shirt, a blazer with a good fit and a great pair of boots to top it off.

Taken from netaporter, here are some options:

Helmut Lang top, The Row pants,  Proenza Schouler shoes andAssad Mounser necklace

Simeon Farrar for Japan top, Helmut Lang jacket and Current/Elliot jeans

Elizabeth and James top and jacket, and Citizens of Humanity jeans

Peplum Trend 2012

Givenchy
I am so thankful for this trend! A peplum is basically a piece of material on a skirt or dress that is attached onto the waist and its length tends to vary. This little piece of fabric creates a stylish element and a little hiding spot for any extra pounds you may be carrying. So, expect to be wearing this next spring for sure! It was on the runways of Jason Wu, Cynthia Rowley, Vera Wang (to name a few)...

Regardless, be ready to embrace this trend into your wardrobes next year!

Versace and H&M

Coming to stores Nov.16th! Its quite surprising to see how Donatella pretty much slightly altered her signature runway looks and gave them to H&M. Donatella talked about having some fabric constraints in the collection but stressed that this was a collection for everyone. Here are a few pictures to give you a little taster of what you are going to find on the shelves!

I came across this photoshoot and I couldn't stop starring! Take a look at the photo love for British photographer Kristy Mitchell. The theme of the shoot was "Wonderland".

Philo's Celine

Phoebe Philo is known for the minimal so it comes as no surprise that this collection was the same aesthetic. However, Philo did played around with shapes and structures. She celebrated the feminine shape, which is not usually a characteristic of her design, by nipping in at the waist.

The designer heavily focused on peplums (a strong trend of the season) heavily. I for one thank god for that as after the body conscious trends at Celine, this one is a little more forgiving.

Rumors are still swirling around about the new Dior creative director. the rumor mill has spilled out Philo as being on the short list... will she make the move? Personally, I think she did wonders for the Celine brand and would be anxious to see how far she pushes the envelope where she is.
