Sotiris Georgiou

The Greek have a tendency of churning out really great designers (My fav- Peter Dundas) I came across this designer recently and his stuff is just really intriguing. He incorporates his Greek heritage along with the shapes of Japanese fashion for this weird fusion between the traditionally beautiful and the modern.

His mens collection is where the real art is. He pushes the envelope with the shapes and textures he plays with. Definitely something you would see walking down the streets of Tokyo.

Maria Lucia Hohan

"Nothing is more important that the love you hold for yourself and for the people around you" - MLH
What I love about this designer is that her garments make it so a woman is claiming her right to be noticed as a beautiful, urban, empowered female (very power-to-you I know).  The designer does not shy away from texture, she frequently uses leather, glitter, corsets, creases, buttons, gold zippers (list is pretty much endless).. I guess her wide vocabulary of textures comes from the fact that she studied fashion textile design in Paris. The art of designing is then strengthened by her work as a fashion illustrator in Milan.

In 2006 she goes international, and she definitely has me watching! This is one to keep your eye on!

The dress that grabbed my attention.. it's beautiful and simply elegant

Versace's Soiree

Versace for H&M had a little party last night which included a runway show of the much anticipated collaboration as well as a performance from Nicki Minaj and Prince. Stars came out in full force donning head to toe the Versace H&M collection (see Alan Cummings).

Glamour Awards

I do not know what was going on at the Glamour awards but the fashion was anything but good. The two best dressed ladies were by far J.Lo and Donatella Versace. I do not know what most of the other ladies were thinking..

And the rest....

Designer Spotlight: Rehna Pendse

I came across this designer recently and I am seriously angry I didn't find her sooner! She is a NYC based designer who studied at FIT. Her line is called Cuffe Parade, she seeks to design for women on the road to freedom. So, basically think edgy, mixes of leather, hard, risque garments. The designer grew up in Mumbai, so naturally her work is intricate and infused with many patterns and embroideries. Honestly, I love NYC designers that come out of India, their work is so wonderfully ethnic yet insanely western.

Her blend of East meets West is what keeps her items unique and relevant. This line debuted in Spring 2012. Take a look at her work:
