Its safe to say that Karl Lagerfeld has a flare for the dramatics (remember the iceberg he got flown in onto the runway?). This season, wasn't any different! So, he didn't bring in an iceberg form another country but there were pebbles, there was an oyster shell signifying this under-the-water theme that was ongoing in his collection. And oh ya, Lagerfeld cast himself as Prospero conjuring underwater magic.
Surprisingly the dramatics did not overpower the garments. Karl played with graphics this season, which was very successful. I loved the line work streaming through the collection (pun intended). There were still tweeds and dropped waists but this collection seemed to be a little part of a departure from the regular "Chanel" look. Although Karl did this, you could still easily look at this and know it was Chanel.
Some favorites of mine: well all first 7 looks, I loved the light color palette that Karl used. The cable knit skirt for sure, and tulle skirts with a suit like top. Some outfits were a little too literal, but an under the sea theme done so well? I have never seen it. Its always crazy to see how after 60 years over 100 collection, Lagerfeld is still as creative as ever, bringing us something different each and every season.
